Wedding Crashers (2005)
Directed by David Dobkin
Starring: Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Christopher Walken, Isla Fisher, Bradley Cooper
With Wedding Crashers, director David Dobkin manages to make a movie with bathroom humor and chick-flick values. Dobkin has also worked on other hit comedies like The Change-Up. This film was the first of two that paired Dobkin with Vince Vaughn, in 2007 they worked on Fred Claus. This movie also stars Owen Wilson, Christopher Walken, Rachel McAdams, Bradley Cooper, and Isla Fisher.
John (Wilson) and Jeremy (Vaughn) are best friends who love wedding season. They’ve figured out that weddings make women easy prey for some quick fun. Things change when John falls in love with Claire Cleary (McAdams) at her sister’s wedding. This new love is complicated by Claire’s boyfriend (Cooper) and Jeremy’s disapproval. Now John needs to win back his best friend and win the heart of Claire.
This is a funny film from start to finish. The story morphs from an Old School feel to a romantic comedy very nicely as the story develops. This isn’t award-winning writing, just a funny story with some great dialogue and outrageous gags.
There isn’t much reason to elaborate about a movie like this. It’s fun and raunchy all at once. The actors do a good job and the story has a nice resolution. I would recommend this one for people who enjoyed Horrible Bosses, The Change-Up, or anything like that. Also watch for a little time with Will Ferrell in the movie. I give this one 3.3 out of 5 stars.
Found this film funny both times I watched it, love the Will Ferrell cameo too!!
