Why I’m excited for Lincoln: What biographical films are your favorites?

Posted by

Starting tomorrow, in a select group of theaters, the movie Lincoln will be released. I’m excited for the release of this film for several reasons.

First, I love Abraham Lincoln. I think he’s an American legend, someone the history books have set above some of the other leaders in the history of our great nation. I see the effects his decisions had on this nation as a great leap forward in becoming the country we are.

Second, the book Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin is one of my favorite books. She really dug deep to come up with a unique angle from which to study Lincoln. Her book is the basis for the film and that makes it even more exciting for me.

Third, I love Daniel Day-Lewis. I don’t think that they could have cast anyone better for the role. He’s an intelligent actor with a method that brings people to life. This should be no exception.

So, with this film coming out, it’s time to ask a new question of my readers. What is your favorite bio pic? I’ve left this poll open to answers that aren’t on the list since I’d love to hear about other films that might not have come to me before. Thank you for being a part of the poll, and please feel free to comment and let me know why you made your choice.

  1. Thanks to everyone who voted. I’ll be adding more polls in the future. I’m surprised to see Amadeus on top despite the fact that it’s one of my favorite movies. Keep voting if you’re looking at this. I plan on doing more with the results in the future.
