Your vote matters!!!! (at least to me it does)

I was reading a post on Facebook directed to my site and myself. My friend Rod asked me to review the most underrated comedy of all-time. I have my own opinions on what that might be, but I thought I’d get yours and then use the top few as fodder for a new set of reviews to be done in the next week or two. So, let me know what your favorite underrated comedy is and we’ll have some fun with them.

Once I’ve taken in your comments for a week I’ll re-post the answers and get a poll going to rate them.

This is on you readers to actually participate, so I need your votes.

  1. This was a really hard choice for me. I was split between 2 movies and I think both were underrated: Zoolander and Hot Fuzz.

  2. A couple to add to the list:
    Johnny Dangerously
    Hot Rod
MST3K – The Final Sacrifice – Maybe it should count as a TV show, but it contains one of the funniest full length movies I’ve ever seen.

  3. Oscar (1991) is very underrated. A solid zany comedy.

    I second Hot Rod (2007).

The Last Days of Disco (1998) is one of the better “dramedy” films that doesn’t get enough recognition.

My all-time favorite screwball comedy is not one of Capra’s, but Bachelor Mother (1939).

Hot Fuzz (2007) and Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (1985) are both hilarious, but I feel they are usually recognized as such and are therefore not underrated. Same goes for Clue (1985).

Harold Lloyd’s funniest film, IMO, is Girl Shy (1924), which is overshadowed by the (also great) Safety Last! (1923) and The Freshman (1925). Girl Shy is my vote for funniest feature length silent comedy that is vastly underseen.

Luis Buñuel’s The Milky Way (1969) is better than his better known work, IMO (such as The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972)).

Last but not least – everyone loves The Naked Gun (1987) (and rightly so), but the six episode series Police Squad! (1982) it is based on is twice as funny.
