Lou (2017)
Written and directed by Dave Mullins
A young boy finds something amazing and unexpected in the lost and found box at school.
This is one of the five nominees for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short. The film was written and directed by Dave Mullins (Coco).
This is a charming and entertaining short, made by a veteran Pixar animator. The animation is great, creating a unique title character. The world of the short is also beautifully designed and the perfect backdrop for the story. The story itself is charming and funny. There is a bit of a message, but mostly this just feels fun. This is just the kind of short that Pixar has been known for, and Mullins captured that feel perfectly.
This is a fun short that you should make sure to see. Fans of animation will definitely enjoy the work done on the short. Lou will appeal to kids and adults alike. I give this one 4.5 out of 5 stars.
